On International Human Rights Day - 10 December 2013 -, a Human Rights Symbol was unveiled by Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Mr Erion Veliaj, and Dutch Ambassador Martin de la Beij. The Embassy supported the creation
of a Human Rights Symbol bringing into art the universal logo of human rights. Carved with quotes of different groups voicing importance of human rights, the Symbol echoes respect of human rights every single day. The symbol is made from used wood and produced by marginalized people.
In respect of the commitment and daily contribution enhancing the human rights situation in Albania, the Symbol is hosted at the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth.
Special gratitude to the involved human rights defenders: OMSA, Pink Embassy, Help for Children Foundation, Albanian Coalition for Child Education, Albanian Institute for Public Affairs, Counselling Line, Mjaft Movement and the producer Design by Pana, for making it happen.
